To get the best talent, corporations need to be very strategic about talent, whether recruiting for local or global roles. Talent pipeline refers to the corporation’s on-going talent pool that is readily available to fill all positions across all management levels and locations, as the company expands. In order to keep the pipeline updated and filled, appropriate skills sets for each role will be designed and developed, including different competencies and experiences.
This is also a great way to tap into passive talent in the market and be alert to people who may not be looking to make a change immediately. Those companies who take a proactive approach as to who they will want to hire in the future versus waiting to fill an open position are at an advantage when it comes to having the “right” talent in their pipeline ready to activate.
A good example is when a Fortune 150 electronics company retained us monthly for a period of time to scope and build out Senior Sales and Marketing roles in the ASEAN region. Our role was to source and recruit talent from Australia, Singapore, HK/China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Working closely with the US based Head of Talent we were briefed to identify top external talent in a number of their competitors and supply channel partners.
Another example was identifying a strategic and Senior HR professional with expertise in change management for a Fortune 150 company based in Asia. We were retained for about 10 months.
We have been mandated to undertake competitive business development research to identify companies in the same sector and market map specific roles with the client’s aim of seeking joint venture opportunities.
A global company in testing, inspection and certification services with global businesses from marine to offshore, commodities, construction, in-service inspection and verification, mandated us to map a number of roles from Project Director, Procurement and Quality Assurance in the oil and gas exploration area.
We identified the oil and gas projects in a specific region, their size, commencement and completion dates of the projects, scope of work (whether Front End Engineering Design or Maintenance & Operations etc), their customers and value of the project.
Our clients, especially executive search and recruitment companies hire us for one-off open positions where we identify the companies to target and create profiles on the select individuals, as per the client brief. Once the candidate target list is ready, the client approves the potential candidates to approach. We then “tap them on the shoulder” to sell the role and gauge their interest in exploring the opportunity. The final list is then handed to the client to manage the final search process, full interviews, reference checks and salary negotiations.

Another of our corporate clients mandated us to undertake a number of elements of a retained search and in so doing they unbundled the search services to HKR, as they had the internal capability to executive the final stages, for example reference checks or salary negotiations

A major superannuation/pension fund keen to expand their senior teams based on the companies diversity policy. We worked on a monthly retainer for a period of 4 months and identified over 3000 potential candidates globally. Countries covered were Australia/Asia/USA/UK & Europe.
A publicly listed company providing outsourced operations, maintenance, asset management services to the resources, property and infrastructure sector mandated us to identify candidates for one-off open positions and retained ongoing monthly projects locally and globally.
